Case 2: There is at least one item in your freezer(s) with the same barcode as the one just scanned


Case 2 will occur if you scan the barcode of an item that already exists in one or more of your freezers.  In this case, Frij ID presents the menu shown in Figure 3 below.

Once you have prepared Frij ID for scanning (see Preparing to Scan Items) you will be able to scan items that have barcodes. Frij ID can scan barcodes adhering to the EAN-8, EAN-13, or UPC-E barcode standards.


To scan a barcode, press the Add and Remove Items by Scanning button on the Frij ID main screen.  The screen in Figure 1 will be displayed.  Position the barcode approximately in the location of the green square and wait a few seconds for the camera to focus on the barcode.  After the camera focuses on the barcode and scans it, one of two things will occur, depending upon whether or not there are already items in the freezer with the same barcode as the one just scanned.   

Frij ID - Scanning Items

The name of the item scanned is at the top of the menu in Figure 3.  Frij ID knows the name of the item because there is already an item with this barcode contained in one or more of your freezers.


If you select Add item to a freezer, then Frij ID will allow you to choose which freezer to add the item to.  If you have only one freezer, then Frij ID will add the item to that freezer.


If you select Remove item from a freezer, then Frij ID will allow you to choose which freezer to remove the item from.  If you have only freezer, then Frij ID will remove the item from that freezer.


If you select Move item from one freezer to another, then Frij ID will allow you to choose which freezer to move the item from and which freezer to move the item to.  The Move item from one freezer to another menu item will not be present if you have only one freezer.


If you select Edit item details, then Frij ID will allow you to edit the name of the item.  If you change the name of the item, it will change for all of the items with the same barcode in all of your freezers.

Case 1: There are no items in your freezer(s) with the same barcode as the one just scanned


Shortly after the camera scans the barcode you will be presented with the Enter Item Information screen in Figure 2.

In Figure 2, type in the name of the item scanned and select which freezer to add the item to.  After you have completed entering the information for the item, select the Add to Freezer button.  After you press the Add to Freezer button, the Scan Item screen will be displayed so that you can scan the next item.
